Home Visits
It is not always possible to attend the surgery with certain problems and a home visit is needed. While it is not always possible, we would be grateful if you could contact the surgery as early in the day as you can if you require a home visit as this helps the doctors organise their day. Please can you take into account that in the time it takes to do one visit, a doctor can see five patients in the surgery – so please only ask for a visit if it is really necessary.
Telephone Triage Service
Some problems or queries can be managed safely over the telephone. We aim to have a Doctor or Nurse available throughout the day to answer your telephone enquires. Our reception staff may need to take your telephone number and we should be able to return your call within a short space of time.
Core services
Our core service provision includes the management of general medical conditions, offering health promotion, referral to secondary and tertiary care providers, as well as offering emergency care for registered patients and temporary residents.
Additional services
We offer cervical screening, general contraceptive services, vaccinations, immunisations, child health surveillance, and antenatal care. We also offer a minor surgery service run by Dr Brown on a weekly basis.
Enhanced services
In the Autumn we offer a routine influenza vaccination for all those of age 65 and over, as well as those who are at risk – patients with chronic chest, heart or kidney problems. We also offer routine influenza vaccination to all diabetics, and those living in residential or nursing homes. If you think you belong to one of these groups, please led our reception staff know.
Training of Registrars and Medical Students
We are committed as a practice to the training of the next generation of doctors and nurses. From time to time we will be allocated a registrar who is a fully qualified doctor, completing his or her training as a General Practitioner. Talking to and examining patients is a valuable part of their training, so we are grateful when patients agree to their presence during a consultation, and when they are sufficiently experienced, consult them. This will, however, only happen with your permission.
