ABOUT US

Shawbirch Medical Centre was set up on the October 1989 to provide healthcare. The Medical Centre was founded by Dr. N J King and Dr. E J Herd, husband and wife, in partnership, in a porta-cabin on the site where it still stands. In 1991, we developed a new purpose built medical centre. We now have five GP partners, including 1 female, four Assistant GP's and three practice nurses. Shawbirch Medical Centre also has a number of very experienced reception staff who will be able to guide you to use the services we offer as effectively as possible. We currently have on average 10,300 patients.

RECEPTIONISTS AND ADMINISTRATION STAFF

The receptionists are your link with the rest of the practice; they try in every way to help you, and the more information you give them, the better they will be able to assist you. Our staff always aim to be courteous, and we greatly value their contribution to the smooth running of the surgery. This practice supports the Government's NHS zero tolerance zone campaign. Violence and abuse is a growing concern. GPs and their staff have the right to care for others without fear of being attacked or abused. Violent patients will be reported to the police and struck off the GP's list. We expect you to treat your GP and practice staff properly - without violence or abuse.

PRACTICE NURSES

We have three practice nurses at the Practice. They offer a wide range of health promotion clinics, and also offer such services as ear syringing, cervical smears, dressings, child immunizations and other nursing services. They are available by appointment during surgery hours.

HEALTH CARE ASSISTANTS

They will perform Blood Pressure checks, do all the blood taking and also they do all the new patient medical checks. They assist with clinics and minor operations.
